History and Description
The station was opened on August 10, 1984 [1] . It got its name thanks to the Kharkov Historical Museum located nearby. The design name is Sovetskaya-2.
The station is connected by two passages - in the center and end of the hall - with the neighboring station of the Kholodnogorsk-Zavodskaya line “ Constitution Square ”. Four escalator belts lead into the spacious underground lobby located beneath the Constitution Square . It is associated with an underground passage, exits from which lead to the square, to the beginning of Sumy Street , to Universitetskaya Street and to Bursatsky Descent.
The design of the station is a deep-laid column . The step of the columns is 5.25 meters.
In the decoration of the walls and columns of the hall light marble “Koelga” was used. The track walls lined with brown marble of the Khustovsky deposit “Bolshoi Kamenetz” contrast with them. The track walls are dissected by heraldic reliefs from bronze casting.
After the repair, the track walls lost their protrusions and became flat, the walls were faced with red granite and darkened with inserts of gray granite and white marble. Also, the upper part of the pylons lost their marble cladding. Only the vertical part is lined with marble.
