Biography

Noriko Ogivara was born in 1959 in Tokyo . As a child, after reading The Chronicles of Narnia by Clive Lewis , she decided to become a science fiction writer.

Her first book, Blue Jade (空 色 勾 玉, Sorairo Magatama), won several children's literature awards and was translated into English by Katie Hirano as Dragon Sword and Wind Child. The next two novels, Swan Weird Legend (白鳥 異 伝, "Hakuchou Iden") and "Pink Nymph" (薄 紅 天 女, "Usubeni Tennyo"), were a continuation of Blue Jade and were published only in Japanese. These three books together make up the Jade Trilogy series.

Her other work, “Good Witch from the West” (西 の 善 き 魔女, "Nishi no Yoki Majo"), combines Western and fantasy genres. This is a series of eight books. Based on this series, a series of manga adaptations by Haruhiko Momokawa was released, which was published in Comic Blade magazine. Based on the work, an anime series called “The Good Witch from the West: Testament of Astrai”, which was released in Japan in 2006, was also shot.

Her series of fantasy novels “The Girl from the Red Book” (レ ッ ド デ ー タ ガ ー ル, Reddo Dēta Gāru), which was first published in 2008, consists of six books. Based on the series, they also shot an anime series.
