2017 in checkers

• January 22: The Turkish Drafts World Championship for Men is over . Nezar Nassih from Iraq interrupted the long-standing championship of Faik Yildiz (Turkey).
• February 26: European Championships in international drafts in the blitz format among men and women ended. The victory was won by the Russians Alexander Shvartsman and Natalya Shestakova .
• April 27: Asian championships in international drafts among men and women , in Russian drafts and in Turkish drafts ended. The champion of Asia in men was the representative of China Li Zhenyu (international drafts), in women Zhao Hanqing won. The Chinese drafts also defeated the Chinese Liu Jingxin in men and Liu Pei in women.
• May 9: the world championships in international drafts in the formats of blitz and rapid ended. In the blitz for men , Jean-Mark Njofang won, for women Matryon Nogovitsyna . In quick drafts, Artyom Ivanov defeated men and women Tamara Tansykkuzhina .

• June 18 - the 37th Golden Prague International Drafts Tournament ended with the victory of Evgeny Vatutin (Belarus).
• June 29 - Arunas Norvaishas (Lithuania) won the 2nd stage of the drafts-64 World Cup “Rimini-2017” ( Italy ).
• July 30 - the victory of Sergey Belosheev (Russia) ended the 3rd stage of the World Cup in drafts-64 “White Nights-2017” ( Russia ).
• August 18 - Mirat Zhekeyev (Kazakhstan) won the 4th stage of the World Drafts-64 Cup “Information Technology Cup” ( Russia ).
• August 3 - the victory of Lubabalo Kondlo ( South Africa ) ended the qualifying tournament for the World Championship in checkers according to GAYP.
• August 3 - Nadezhda Chizhevskaya ( Ukraine ) became the world champion in women checkers according to GAYP .
• September 2 in Kranevo , Bulgaria ended the team world championship in drafts-64 . The men and women won the team of Belarus. In the second and third place in men, the teams Russia-1 and Russia-2. Women ranked second in Moldova, in third place in Uzbekistan, Russian national teams took 4-7 places.
• September 9 in Karpacz , Poland ended the stage of the World Cup in international drafts "Polish Open 2017". The victory was won by the Russian Alexei Chizhov and the representative of Poland Natalia Sadovska .
• September 10 was the European Championship in international drafts (rapid) among men and women ( Karpacz , Poland ). The victory was won by the Dutchman Rul Bomstra and Russian Ayanika Kychkina .
• September 22 - the match for the world champion title in 3-move version between Michele Borghetti and Sergio Scarpetta ( Livorno , Italy ) ended ahead of schedule. Sergio Scarpetta won (+6, = 29, -1) and became the world champion in this version.
• September 23 - The European Team Championship in International Drafts ended. The men won the Russian team, the women the Belarus team.
• October 1 - The Russian Drafts Championship of Russia ended. Olga Balukova won the women, Oleg Dashkov the men.
• October 15 - the world championship in international drafts among men and women ( Tallinn , Estonia ) has ended. The victory was won by the Russian Alexander Shvartsman and the representative of Latvia Zoya Golubeva .
• October 21 - in Amsterdam , the Netherlands , the first European Championship in Frisian drafts ended. The winner was Russian Alexander Georgiev .
• October 28 - in St. Petersburg , Russia ended the world championship in Russian drafts among men and women . The winners were the representative of Belarus Igor Mikhalchenko and Russian Zhanna Sarshaeva .
• October 31 - The representative of Northern Ireland, Shane McCosker , won the European Cup for checkers .
• November 11 - the victory of Sergey Belosheev (Russia) ended the 5th stage of the World Drafts-64 Cup “Tbilisi-2017” ( Georgia ).
• December 10 - World Cup final in drafts-64 "Tournament in Memory of Vasily Sokov" ( Russia ) ended with the victory of Vladimir Skrabov , who won the 2017 World Cup.
