1988 European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships

The 6th European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships were held in Helsinki , Finland , from May 18 to 22, 1988 . In the individual championship, five sets of medals were won (all-around, jump rope, hoop, maces, ribbon), in the group championship three (all-around and finals of the exercises in separate forms: with six balls and three hoops / three ribbons) ^[1] .

Participants in the finals of the exercises in certain types (rope, hoop, maces, ribbon) were determined by the all-around results: the best eight grades received by gymnasts in each discipline were taken into account ( in italics in the table). Two gymnasts from the country were allowed to participate in the finals.

Prequalification competitions among groups have been canceled. Instead, a group all-around event was held: each team of six gymnasts performed two exercises with different types of objects. The first of them - with one (balls), the second - combined (ribbons and hoops). In the finals of the exercises in individual forms, the eight best according to the results of the teams came out. In total, athletes from fourteen countries took part in the group all-around.
