Biography

Born September 13, 1953.

In 1975, he graduated with honors from the Department of Botany of the Biological Faculty of the Kuban State University (the theme of the thesis: “Agaric mushrooms of the Northern Forestry of the Caucasian Reserve”), where he then worked as a laboratory assistant.

From 1976 to 1980 - graduate school of the V. L. Komarov Botanical Institute .

In 1981 - defended his thesis, topic: “Mushrooms since. Agaricales sl of the mountain forests of the Northwest Caucasus ”(supervisor - B. P. Vasilkov ).

In 2006 - defended his doctoral dissertation, topic: “Hygrophoric mushrooms (Hygrophorales, Basidiomycota order): species composition in Russia, phylogenesis, system” [2] .

Since 1981, he has been working at the V. L. Komarov Botanical Institute , where since 1986 he has been the head of the laboratory of systematics and geography of mushrooms, and since 2002, he has been deputy director for research.

In 2016, he was elected a corresponding member of the RAS .

Scientific activity

Specialist in the field of mycology .

Research interests: biodiversity, systematics, ecology, evolution and phylogeny of agaricoid basidiomycetes; mycocenology: species diversity and spatial structure of communities of ectomycorrhizal fungi. The greatest attention is focused on the study of fungi of this family. Hygrophoraceae, including using molecular methods (sequencing of 18S, 25S and ITS regions of ribosomal DNA).

The author of 164 scientific works, of which 12 individual and collective monographs, 29 articles in journals.
