Description

Small brownish-black ants (about 2 mm). Scape of the antennae of medium length, almost reaching the posterior margin of the head. The head is oval-elongated, the methanotic impression is weak, the hind chest is angular, with long propodeal spines. Chest and head on top with a reduced sculpture. Antennae 12-segmented. The species was first described in 1901 as a variety under the original name Leptothorax congruus var. spinosior Forel, 1901 [3] , in 1990 it was upgraded to a separate species [4] [5] [1] [2] . The chromosome set 2n = 24 [6] .
