KAMAZ-6580 - the flagship truck line of the Kama Automobile Plant, designed to complement the 6520 line. Cars of the 6580 series are designed to work on the construction of large industrial or infrastructure facilities where trucks move along specially constructed temporary roads, or for use as a cheap alternative to specialized BelAZ mining dump trucks . One of the key features of the series is its high axle loads (16 tons per rear axle in full load), which virtually eliminates their use on public roads. Trucks of the 6580 series received 2 markings: the first traditional, the second - European. In this index, the first two digits are the total mass in tons, the next numerical pair is “horsepower” without the last zero. Thus, KAMAZ-6580 and 65802 also have the K4141D index, model 65801 is marked K5044D, and 65806 is marked K2642.

The first machine variants presented in 2016 were equipped with U-shaped bodies manufactured by NEFAZ, with a volume of 20 m 3 for 6580 and 65802 dump trucks and 25 m 3 for 65801. This exceeded the capacity of the machines for carrying loads when transporting goods with a high specific gravity (for example, sand ), and given the traditional loading of dump trucks with a slide for Russia, it exceeded significantly. However, after receiving comments and suggestions from users, the company changed both the volume of the body and its manufacturer - in 2017, production cars are produced with rectangular bodies of the Betsema company (Moscow region, Krasnogorsk) with a volume of 16 m 3 (BTsM-290) for KAMAZ -6580, 15 m 3 (BTsM-290.2) for KAMAZ-65802 and 20 m 3 (BTsM-291) for KAMAZ-65801.
The cab is manufactured by KAMAZ itself, and is a licensed copy of the Mercedes-Benz Axor cab . The gearbox is purchased from ZF , there are two transfer cases to choose from - your own KAMAZ or production Steyr. Axles and bridges - Chinese Hande, hardened springs - Chusovsky plant. Inter-axle and inter-wheel locks are included in the basic package. Instead of the R22.5 tubeless road tires standard for previous KAMAZ trucks, R24 chamber radial tires are installed, this emphasizes the "career" specialization of the series.
In the future, it is planned to expand the selection of available engines for each of the models. In addition to adapting the Mercedes-Benz OM457 engine for all models, it is planned to include KAMAZ-750.10 V-shaped eight-cylinder engines and the future KAMAZ-910.10 inline six-cylinder engine, created in conjunction with Liebherr-International AG on the basis of the D946 engine, in equipment options.
