According to the project, the capacity should amount to 454.5 MW, which will fully meet the own needs of the metallurgical plant and the adjacent Alchevsk Coke Chemical Plant for electricity consumption, as well as the issue to the unified power grid.
The first stage with a capacity of 303 MW was launched in 2013. The construction of the second stage with a capacity of 151.5 MW was suspended due to armed conflict .
Content
Basic Information
The construction and operation of the power plant is carried out by PJSC "Ekoenergia" of ISD Corporation. GTS is designed according to the scheme of a combined-cycle plant operating in parallel with the integrated power grid. The design capacity is 454.5 MW (3 power units of 151.5 MW each)
The first stage [1] :
- Unit 1 - launched in March 2013
- Unit 2 - launched in January 2014
The second stage:
- Unit 3 - in 2014, construction was frozen due to armed conflict .
Technical specifications of power units
All power units are the same.
The main equipment of the power unit:
- gas turbine " Mitsubishi " ( Japan ) with a capacity of 89.7 MW
- steam turbine " Mitsubishi " (Japan) with a capacity of 61.8 MW
- "Melco" generator (Japan) with a rated capacity of 151.5 MW
- steam boiler - Nooter / Eriksen utilizer ( USA )
- gas compressors connected to the steam turbine shaft via a gearbox .
Investments
The total cost of the project is about $ 675 million. [2] Financing is carried out at the expense of own funds of the IUD Corporation, as well as loans from the EBRD and Japan Bank for International Cooperation [3]
Ecology
Thanks to the power plant, carbon emissions should be reduced by 2 million tons. Also, the production of 2.4 billion kWh of electricity produced by the power plant on metallurgical gases, save 1 million tons of coal or 700 million cubic meters of natural gas burned at the thermal power plants of Ukraine to produce the same amount of electricity.
