Benamar Mesquin ( Arabic: بن عمار مسكين ; genus. June 6, 1973 ) - Algerian boxer , representative of the middle and welterweight categories. He played for Algeria's boxing team in the late 1990s - the first half of the 2000s, bronze medalist of the All-African Games in Abuja , silver medalist of the Mediterranean Games in Tunisia , two-time African champion, winner and medalist of tournaments of international importance, participant in the Athens Summer Olympic Games .

Biography

Benamar Meskin was born on June 6, 1973.

In 1997, he performed at the World Championships in Budapest , where he stopped at the welterweight stage at the 1/8 finals. A year later, in welterweight, he won a bronze medal at the African home championship in Algeria. A year later he boxed at the world championship in Houston , but also could not get into the number of winners, he lost already at the preliminary stage in the 1/16 final.

Having gained a foothold in the main team of the Algerian national team, in 2001 Meskin won the African Championship in Port Louis, became the silver medalist of the Mediterranean Games in Tunisia , and attended the international Ahmet Comert tournament in Istanbul.

In 2002, he won a silver medal at the Golden Belt international tournament in Bucharest, losing in the decisive final match to the local Romanian boxer Marian Simion .

In 2003, he was the best at the African Championship in Yaounde, became the bronze medalist of the Afro-Asian Games in Hyderabad and the All-African Games in Abuja , took the bronze of the Ahmet Komert tournament.

At the African Olympic qualification in Casablanca, Benamar Meskin defeated all his rivals in the welterweight division and, due to this victory, qualified for the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens . At the Games, however, he had only one single fight - at the preliminary stage of the category up to 69 kg with a score of 20:45 he was defeated by the US representative Vanes Martirosyan and immediately dropped out of the further struggle for medals. Soon after the end of these competitions, he decided to end his sports career [1] .
