Religion in Togo is a combination of religious beliefs inherent in the peoples of this country. That country where there is freedom of religion . According to the CIA report, about 29% of the population are Christians , 20% are Muslims , and 51% adhere to local religious beliefs [1] [2] .

Traditional Beliefs
About 50% of the population adhere to traditional African beliefs , including animalism, fetishism (especially often), the cult of ancestors, the forces of nature, etc. The Ga religion and Yoruba religion are common. Along with this, the voodoo religion is also of great importance [2] .
Christianity
In the 16th century, the Portuguese colonized the coastal areas known as the Slave Coast [3] and brought Christianity to the region. German colonists and missionaries brought Protestantism at the beginning of the 19th century . 26% of Togo's inhabitants are Catholics, 9% are Protestants [4] .
Islam
Islam began to spread in Togo in the 15th century thanks to the nomads of house and fulbe [5] . Muslims live mainly in the north of the country. Most Muslims in Togo are Sunnis of the Malikite madhhab [6]. Islam is prevalent among the ethnic groups of Fulbe, Hausa, Ewe [7] , Yoruba [8] and others [6] .
Judaism
In the coastal areas of Togo, there are small Jewish communities [9] .
