Biographies
Fanis Yarullin was born on February 9, 1938 in the village of Kyzyl-Yar in the Bavlinsky district of the Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic . His family was large - six children were raised by one mother, since the father of Fanis - Yarullin Gataulla - died at the front in 1942. In the difficult post-war years, Fanis Yarullin did not have the opportunity to get a good education. To avoid starvation, in 1954, after graduating from 8th grade, the 16-year-old Fanis went to the regional center in search of work and got a job as a fitter in the communications office of the Tatneft association. After 3 years, he becomes already a high-level fitter.
In 1957, Fanis was drafted into the army, where he enters the aviation school, which trains air gunners-radio operators. He also enters the sports section, where he begins to engage in athletics. In this area he achieves excellent results. However, during the exercises, Fanis falls unsuccessfully onto his back and is permanently bedridden. Here he first tries himself in poetry. While in the hospital, Fanis graduates from high school. In 1964-1970, Fanis studied in absentia at Kazan State University and successfully graduated from it.
In 1964, the first collection of his poems was published in the Tatar Book Publishing House. (“Min tormychka gashyyk” - “I am in love with life”). In the same year, at the All-Union Competition held by Komsomolskaya Pravda, the poems by Fanis Yarullin took the 2nd place and are included in the poetry collection Pink Deer, which is published by the Young Guard publishing house. Poems, stories of Fanis Yarullin are published in various newspapers and magazines, almanacs in translations into Russian, Kazakh, Ukrainian, Hungarian, Bulgarian and other languages.
From small in volume works - verses and short stories - Fanis gradually moves to writing large poems and short stories. The novels “Elastic Sails”, “The Scream of the Goose”, “The Melody of Flowers” and poetic works - “The Scream of the Soul”, “Nesel Agachi” (“The Tree of Life”), (“The Scream of Man”) brought him special fame. In 1978, for the collections of poems “Breath” and “Inseparable Friend”, Fanis Yarullin was awarded the Republican Musa Jalil Prize, and in 1995 his book “The Cry of the Soul” was awarded the State Prize of the Republic of Tatarstan named after Gabdulla Tukai.
In 2001, he was awarded the title People's poet of the Republic of Tatarstan . In 1984, for his success in the field of literature, the writer was awarded the title "Honored Worker of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan", and in 1988 he was awarded the Order of Friendship of Peoples . His works are included in school books. Every year, students of KSU , Kazan State Humanitarian and Pedagogical University, college and teacher training students carry out term papers and defend their thesis on his works. Fanis Yarullin is the author of 46 books.
He died after a long illness on December 9, 2011.
