Club career
After a career in amateur football, Kern was appointed assistant coach of Bayern Munich in 1970, where he remained until 1977, noting his stay during the club’s golden era. He assisted Udo Lattek and Dettmar Kramer , and, in addition, managed the reserve team.
Then he went to work as head coach on his own, working at Vormatia , Nuremberg , Eintracht (Trier) and Ulm 1846 . In 1998, he returned to Bavaria to head the club’s renewed youth system [1] .
