The early years
Torres was born in Alena , Germany . His parents come from Granada , but emigrated to Germany for work. When their son was still a baby, they returned to Spain, settling in Catalonia [1] .
Club career
Torres began his career at Gramenet , after which in 1997 he joined Valencia . He regularly played for the double of the club for two seasons, and then was leased to the clubs " Recreativo " and " Tenerife " for the next two years. In the latter, along with Mista and Luis Garcia , he was one of the most important players in the team under the leadership of Rafael Benitez [2] , who, following the results of the season, made it to the Spanish championship.
Then Torres returned to Valencia, where he became one of the key players in the club, who won the championship twice, as well as the UEFA Cup 2003/04 , again led by Benitez [3] . However, from the beginning of 2005, Curro was severely prevented by injuries [4] , although he appeared in 17 matches in the 2006/07 season , mainly in the position of left defender due to the forced absence of Emiliano Moretti .
Before the start of the 2007/08 season, Torres was leased to the newcomer club of the Spanish championship “ Real Murcia ” [5] , where his health problems made themselves felt again, which is why the football player spent only two matches in a season. After the departure of the team, he returned to Valencia. After spending just two matches in the UEFA Cup and one match in the championship during the season, he left the team in June 2009 [6] .
July 27, 2009 Torres moved to Gimnastic from Segunda , but never spent a minute on the field due to new damage [7] . In January 2011, after a lease by the club of Borja Vighera and Alex Bergantinos , the contract with Curro was terminated, after which the player ended his career [8] .
Team Career
On November 14, 2001, Torres made his debut for the Spanish national team in a friendly match against Mexico in Huelva (1-0) [9] . He was later included in the national team for the 2002 World Cup , where he entered the field in a match against South Africa in the group stage [10] .
Coaching career
On April 7, 2014, Torres returned to Valencia after almost five years, becoming the coach of the club’s reserve team in Segund B [11] . In 2017, he led the team into the final round of the playoffs, in which the club was knocked out by Albacete .
On July 2, 2017, Torres was appointed coach of the Lorca Segunda Club [12] . On December 17, he was fired due to the fact that the team was in the relegation zone [13] .
