Uara ( Arabic: Muqāṭaʿâtu Wārā , مقاطعة وارا , FR. Ouara ) is one of the three departments of the Waddai administrative region in the Republic of Chad . The capital of the department is located in the city of Abeche .

Population
According to the census, in 2009, 328 647 people ( 163 471 men and 165 176 women) lived in the department [3] . According to other sources, in 2012 the population of the department was 335 309 people [2] . However, the Huara department is one of the largest in Chad in terms of population.
Administrative Division
Following the 2008 restructuring reform [4] , the department [2] was separated from the Whar. Currently, the department of Huara includes 7 sub-prefectures [3] :
- Abeshe
- Abugudam ;
- Amleiun ;
- Burtail ;
- Shokoyan ;
- Gery ;
- Martha .
Culture
The department houses the ruins of the ancient city of Huara , the former capital of the Wadai Sultanate . On July 21, 2005, the ruins of Huara were added as candidates for inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List [5] .
