Biography

Karen Margret Heger was born on October 19, 1775 in Copenhagen , Denmark , in the family of official Hans Heger ( d. Hans Heger ; 1747–1819) and Anna-Louise Druysen ( d. Anne Louise Drewsen ; 1751–1799). In 1798 she married Knud Lune Rabek .

Her salon in the house became a cultural center and meeting place for writers of the Golden Age of Denmark and was considered a salon for the middle class , unlike the more aristocratic salons Frederika Brun and . Among the guests of her salon were Hans Christian Andersen , Peter Oluf Brendsted , , Nikolai Frederic Severin Grundtvig , Bernhard Severin Ingemann , Johan Ludwig Geyberg , Adam Gotlob Elenschleger , Iens Baggesen and . Kamma Rahbek supported friendship with the writers of romanticism , and her husband - with the moralists.

Rahbek died on January 21, 1829 in the city of Frederiksberg , Denmark , at the age of 53. She is buried in the . The Bakkehuset House, which was the salon of Rahbek, has now become a museum.
