Simon (Shimon) ben-Boetus ( son of Boeth / Boetus ; Simon / Simeon / Shimon ben Boethus); according to some sources [1] - Boetus himself (born ca. 64 years BC ; died after 5 years ) [2] ; - in Judaism, the first high priest from the Boetusian dynasty in the Jerusalem temple ; Herod the Great's father -in-law : father of his third wife Mariamne [3] .

The son of Boeth (Boethus) from Egyptian Alexandria [4] .

Herod the Great made Simon high priest around 25 or 24 BC. e. [4] because he wanted to give Simon’s daughter, the beautiful Mariamne , a well-known social position before making her his wife. Before that, the high priest was Jesus, the son of Tabitha . When Herod subsequently divorced his third wife, Mariam, Simon lost his high priesthood. [3]
