The son of Boeth (Boethus) from Egyptian Alexandria [4] .
Herod the Great made Simon high priest around 25 or 24 BC. e. [4] because he wanted to give Simon’s daughter, the beautiful Mariamne , a well-known social position before making her his wife. Before that, the high priest was Jesus, the son of Tabitha . When Herod subsequently divorced his third wife, Mariam, Simon lost his high priesthood. [3]
