Section of synclinoria, strokes and arrows illustrate the fan-shaped arrangement of folds and the direction of the thrust to the center
The synclinorium (from synclinal and Greek. Ὄρο гора - mountain) is a large and complex structure of folds , mainly consisting of a lowering of the earth's surface (synclinal), with small folding on the arch of the synclinal and at the borders of the structure, elongated along the axis (length is hundreds of kilometers, width - tens; a larger synclinorium is called a megasynclinorium ).
Unlike the adjoining neighboring structure, anticlinorium , the central part of the synclinorium is characterized by outcrops of relatively young rocks. Synclinoria is often found in folded systems . So, the Ural folded region contains the West Ural megasynclinorium , Magnitogorsk and Tagil synclinoria.
