Geography
The river originates at the north-eastern foot of Mount Nartan and flows down the northern slope of the ridge of the same name, which is a spur of the Forest Range . At the northern edge of the cottage settlement of Pheasant, the right tributary - Phatlyapsa flows into the river. South of the village, Nartan takes its largest left tributary - Ishiheu . Below, the right tributary, Kodakoy, flows into Mishikh and the river flows along a canalized channel to the northeast. In the lower reaches, the riverbed again becomes natural and east of the village of Nartan, flows into Nalchik .
Due to the construction of drainage channels at the northern foot of the Forest Range in the 1960s, the lower reaches of the river are now virtually shallow.
Along the river valley there are cottage settlements - Nalchik, Confectioner, Kommunalnik, Narthasa, Domstroitel and Pheasant. In its middle course, it forms the administrative border between the urban district of Nalchik and the Chereksky district , as well as between the Chereksky and Chegemsky districts.
