History
The community was founded in 1902 as Noble's Station , named after Don Noble, a local resident. The station served as a temporary stop for stagecoaches . In a small settlement there was a boarding house , a general store and a post office .
In the 1920s, Noble and other locals discovered platinum near the village, as a result of which Noble Station quickly became known as “Platinum”. The platinum found was a platinum-osmium alloy and other bound metals.
The current post office in Platinum was established in 1921 . Today, he and the department store are almost in the same place as the old station. The owner of the store in 2009 tried to sell it and several other buildings in the city of eBay , but to no avail. [one]
Platinum gained a certain fame after here in 1967 Seraphim (Rose) and Herman (Podmoshensky) founded the monastery of St. Herman of Alaska , which was engaged in missionary work among Americans.
