N, N-diethyl- p- phenylenediamine ( p- amino-N, N-diethylaniline) is an aromatic organic compound derived from p- phenylenediamine with the chemical formula (C 2 H 5 ) 2 NC 6 H 4 NH 2 . The hydrochloric acid and sulfate salts of N, N-diethyl-p-phenylenediamine are used in the photographs as developing substances for color and black-and-white ultrafine-grained manifestations.

Physical and chemical properties
Light yellow liquid with a boiling point of 261–262 ° C. It is soluble in water, alcohol, ether [1] .
Getting
N, N-Diethyl- p- phenylenediamine is obtained by reduction of 4-nitro-N, N-diethylaniline with hydrogen using Raney nickel as a catalyst in methanol [1] .
Application
Salts of N, N- diethyl-p-phenylenediamine : N, N-diethyl-p-phenylenediamine sulfate (CPV-1 (USSR and Russia), T-22, TSS ( Agfa , Germany)) and N, N-diethyl-p -phenylenediamine hydrochloride (CD-1, Eastman Kodak , USA) - are used as color developing substances in photography [1] [2] [3] .
Security
