Glickman, Timofey Abramovich

Biography

He graduated from the 1st Chisinau gymnasium. He studied at the medical faculty of Novorossiysk University (1904). Then he worked in Bender and Chisinau . Since 1910 he studied at the Faculty of History and Philology of Kiev University. In the 1930s, he worked in the bibliographic department of the Moscow radio center.

He was engaged in literature since 1906, since 1908 he was published in the Petersburg newspaper Rech. The first translator of Konstantinos Kavafis into Russian (circa 1931). [1] He also translated the modern Greek prose writer Dimostenis (Demosthenes) Voutiras (1871-1958), from 1931 he was in correspondence with him (correspondence was included in the Complete Works of D. Voutiras edited by V. Tsokopoulos). From Italian, he translated Massimo de Azello's novel Ettore Fieramosca , or the Barletta Tournament (1838), Francesco Perry's Emigrants (1928), short stories and plays by Luigi Pirandello ; from Spanish - the novel by Ramon Valle-Inclan "Tiran Banderas" (1926), from German - the famous work of German musicologist Kurt Sachs "Modern orchestral musical instruments" (1932).
