The most interesting documents of the exhibition were the so-called “Shetarot” ( Hebrew שהדוה , legal acts in Hebrew ) of English Jews in the period preceding their expulsion by King Edward I (1290). In addition to the Shetarot , various other documents, the number of which exceeded a thousand , also belonged to the early history of the Jews in England; Westminster Abbey alone provided 466 documents. The department of Jewish coins was also rich; some of them were very rare, for example, the 5th cycle and the half cycle of the 4th years of the reign of Simon Maccabee : silver “shekel” coins weighing 14 grams and 7 grams with images of a bowl on the obverse and a lily with three colors on the reverse, and Hebrew inscriptions in Samaritan script [4] . Also interesting was the collection of coins from the Bar Kochba era. Of less interest was the so-called spiritual art. [one]
During the exhibition, lectures were given on the history of Jews in England, which were subsequently published. The exhibition was visited by many people, in particular, the historian Heinrich Grets . [one]
