Biography
Pavel Denisovich Babich was born on January 15, 1801 [1] ) to the elder family of the Black Sea Cossacks . Received a home education [1] .
To serve in the Russian imperial army he entered as an ordinary Cossack. Took part in the Russo-Turkish war of 1828–1829 [1] . From 1838, Babich, with the rank of captain , commanded the foot of the Cossack regiment of the Black Sea (later Kuban troops) , which occupied an important strategic point - Anapa , and until 1845 he fought with the Shapsugs.
During the Crimean campaign , carrying a guard service, Babich defended Novorossiysk and acted against a squadron of allies trying to break through to Kerch .
With the production in 1859 in the major generals, Babich began the most brilliant period of his combat activities. Being appointed head of the Adagum detachment, for about six years he successfully acted against various mountain tribes of the Western Caucasus: the Natukhais, the Shapsugs and the Jeduhs and gradually subdued their lands.
During the Russian-Turkish war of 1877-1878. Lieutenant General Babych was entrusted with one of the detachments that liberated Sukhumi from the Turkish troops.
Pavel Denis'evich Babich died on January 31, 1883. [2] [3] [1] .
Babich's name was Kuban stanitsa Babichevskaya .
