History
In the first half of the 19th century, among the built-up neighborhoods on the slope of the Sokolovaya Mountain, an area was formed that was called Gornaya. On January 30, 1844, a wooden parish church was consecrated in its center. The area was called Parish. In 1855, on a wooden site, a stone Spirit-Deserving Church was built, and the area was simultaneously called Spirit- Deserving Church (officially the name was fixed in 1884). [2] In 1937, the square was named in honor of International Women's Day. [3]
Decree of the administration of the city of Saratov N 238 dated April 27, 1998 “On the return of the historical name of the square to them. March 8 “ [4] squares returned the historical name.
