Biography

From the nobility of the St. Petersburg province. The son of a geologist, professor at St. Petersburg University Alexander Alexandrovich Inostrantsev .

Educated at the Larinsky gymnasium , after which in 1891 he entered military service.

In 1892, he passed the officer exam at the 2nd Military Konstantinovsky School and on October 4 of the same year he was promoted to lieutenant in the Life Guards Finnish Regiment . Produced as a lieutenant on December 6, 1896, to the staff captains - December 6, 1900.

In 1901 he graduated from the Nikolaev Academy of the General Staff on the 1st category and was counted among the General Staff. February 7, 1902 transferred to the General Staff captain, with the appointment of a senior adjutant of the headquarters of the 1st Army Corps . On June 4, 1902, he was appointed Senior Adjutant of the 1st Guards Cavalry Division Headquarters. On March 8, 1904, he was appointed Assistant Senior Adjutant of the Headquarters of the Guards Troops and the St. Petersburg Military District, and on December 6 of the same year he was promoted to lieutenant colonel with the appointment of the head of the General Staff. Then he was assistant to the head of the General Staff (1905), assistant to the head of the General Directorate of the General Staff (1905-1906) and, finally, assistant clerk of the department, Quartermaster General of the General Staff (1906-1907).

From March 11, 1907 he was seconded to the Vladimir Military School for teaching military sciences. Produced in colonels on December 6, 1908 " for distinguished service ". In 1913 he was seconded to the Nikolaev Military Academy for the duties of a teacher of military sciences, and on June 21, 1914 he was appointed extraordinary professor at the Nikolaev Military Academy.

With the beginning of the First World War , on November 8, 1914, he was appointed Chief of Staff of the 67th Infantry Division . On February 7, 1915 he was appointed commander of the 8th Finnish Rifle Regiment . On October 9, 1915, he was appointed commander of the brigade of the 38th Infantry Division , and on October 21 he was promoted to Major General " for distinguished service ", with approval in office. On March 15, 1916, he was appointed general for assignments at the Main Directorate of military schools, and on December 3, 1916, he was an extraordinary professor at the Nikolaev Military Academy, leaving his post. September 15, 1917 was appointed an ordinary professor of the Nikolaev Military Academy.

Since 1920, in exile in Yugoslavia. He served in a private bank, was a teacher of the Russian real gymnasium in Zagreb. Consisted member of the Society of Officers of the General Staff. In 1926 he moved to Czechoslovakia, where he began to lecture on the history of the First World War at the Czechoslovak Military Academy.

He died in 1938 in Prague. He was buried in the Olshansky cemetery .
