Biography

George Gisser was born on January 3, 1872. By religion he belonged to the Reformed Church . Educated at the St. Petersburg private classical gymnasium, which he graduated in 1889 [1] .

September 6, 1889 entered the service of the Russian Imperial Army . In 1892 he graduated from the Mikhailovsky Artillery School , from which he was released to the Dynamo Fortress Artillery [2] , in which he served until 1899 [3] . The rank of second lieutenant was promoted with seniority on August 4, 1892, the rank of lieutenant on August 10, 1894, and the rank of staff captain on July 13, 1897. In 1899 he graduated from the Nikolaev Academy of the General Staff in the 1st category. He was promoted to captain with seniority from June 2, 1899 [2] . In the same year he was serving a camp camp in the Vilna Military District [3] . From November 26, 1899 to November 24, 1901 he was a senior adjutant of the headquarters of the 30th Infantry Division , and from October 1, 1900 to October 1, 1901 he served the censored command as a company commander in the 119th Kolomensk Infantry Regiment . From November 24, 1901 to June 7, 1902 he served as senior adjutant of the headquarters of the 4th Army Corps . From June 7, 1902 to March 28, 1904 he was chief officer for assignments at the headquarters of the Vilna Military District. The rank of lieutenant colonel was promoted with seniority on March 28, 1904. From March 28 to June 3, 1904 he was the headquarters officer for assignments at the headquarters of the same military district [2] .

He took part in the Russian-Japanese war . From June 3, 1904 to June 18, 1905 he held the position of headquarters officer for special assignments at the headquarters of the 6th Siberian Army Corps. From June 18, 1905 to November 11, 1906 he was the chief of staff of the 72nd Infantry Division , and from May 17 to September 22, 1906 he served the censored command in the 5th Finland Rifle Regiment . From November 11, 1906 to March 2, 1907 he was the headquarters officer for special assignments at the headquarters of the 17th Army Corps . From March 2, 1907 to April 6, 1908, he held the position of assistant clerk of the General Directorate of the General Staff , and from April 6, 1908, was the clerk of the General Directorate of the General Staff. The rank of colonel was promoted with seniority on April 14, 1908 [2] . Full member of the Russian Geographical Society since March 2 ( 15 ), 1911 [4] .

He was a member of the First World War . August 23, 1914 was appointed commander of the 197th Infantry Forest Regiment [1] . On October 5, 1915, “for the difference in affairs,” he was promoted to major general with seniority on April 23, 1915. November 21, 1914 was injured [2] . From November 10, 1915 to November 1, 1916 he was the chief of staff of the 2nd Army Corps . November 1, 1916 was appointed quartermaster general of the headquarters of the 11th army . On February 25, 1917 he was appointed to the disposal of the Chief of the General Staff. On June 22, 1917 he was appointed 2nd Chief Quartermaster of the Main Directorate of the General Staff [1] .

Since September 15, 1917 he was an extraordinary professor at the Nikolaev Academy of the General Staff . Since the end of February 1918 he was a military agent in Sweden . He took part in the Civil War in Russia . From February to October 1918 he served in the Red Army . September 2, 1918 was recalled from his post and called to Russia. In the period from 1918 to 1922 he took part in anti-Bolshevik formations on the Eastern Front . Then he emigrated to Sweden [1] . As of 1934 he lived in Sweden [2] .
