Leszek Bandach ( Polish: Leszek Bandach ; born June 3, 1960 , Zielona Gora ) is a Polish fencer and foil fencer . Biography
Leszek Bandach was born on June 3, 1960 in the city of Zielona Gora of the Lubusz Voivodeship . He began to engage in fencing at a local club, later he trained at the clubs Sosnowiec , Katowice and Radlin .
First announced itself in 1979, becoming the second in the foil team championship at the Polish Championship. In 1981, for the first time he became the champion of the Polish national championship among foil fencers, in subsequent years he repeatedly won the prize in various fencing disciplines.
Thanks to a series of successful performances, he was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul - he took 29th place here in the personal foil championship and is located on the fifth line in the team championship.
After the Seoul Olympics, Bandach remained in the main composition of the fencing team in Poland and continued to take part in major international tournaments. So, in 1990, he visited the World Championships in Lyon , from where he brought the silver dignity award won in the team event - in the final, the Poles lost to the Italians.
In 1991, he won a bronze medal in team discipline at the European Championships in Vienna .
The last time showed any significant result on the international scene in the 1993 season, when he won bronze at the world championship in Essen in the foil team championship. Subsequently, for many years he remained an active athlete, although he no longer achieved serious success.
