In November 2013, he put forward another proof of Zhang Ethan's theorem [2] [3] , which states that there are gaps between the strokes, showing in symbols there are many endless intervals that are held back - -, by a prime number [4] [5] . This work provoked progress in the Hardy-Littlewood hypothesis, a symbol - establishes that the positive part -, satisfied with the regular tag [6] [7] . Maynard's approach made it possible to:
Combinatorics
- .
The formula improved the previous ones developed in the Polymath 8 project [8] . (In other words, he showed that there is an infinite prime number equal to 600). To do this, Polymath 8b [9] was created, Maynard and his colleagues were able to reduce the number to 252 [8] .
February 14, 2014 after Zhang's announcement on the Polymath wiki the number was reduced to 246 [8] . Further, using the Elliott-Halberstam hypothesis with its generalized formula, Polymath affirms the symbol and reduces the numbers 12 and 6, respectively [8] .
In August 2014, Maynard [10] [7] solved the Erdös problem associated with large gaps between strokes, for which he received a cash prize of $ 10 thousand [11] .
James graduated from the undergraduate and graduate programs at Cambridge University . Roger Heath-Brown [12] was his research supervisor at the University of Oxford [12] [1] . From 2013-2014, Maynard worked as a doctoral student at the University of Montreal [13] .
In 2014, he was awarded the SASTRA Ramanujan Prize Mathematical Prize [1] [14] [15] .
