The Mikhail Kotsyubinsky Museum in Simeiz existed since 1968, but was closed in 2009. After the reconstruction of the premises on May 15, 2011 in Simeiz, the museum was reopened [1] [2] .

Mikhail Kotsyubinsky immortalized his stay in Simeiz in the short story “On the Stone”. In 1911, he came to Simeiz for the second time and already with his family, rented a room from the merchant Gafurov. It is in this house - now on Oktyabrskaya Street today that a memorial museum operates.

The museum exposition tells about the life and career of a classic of Ukrainian literature. Materials for the exhibition were collected by the efforts of Kotsyubinsky museums in Vinnitsa, Chernihiv, as well as local history museums in Alushta and Yalta.

Museum Initiative

Doctor of Medical Sciences, an active public figure in the city of Yalta , V.V. Navrotsky at the opening of the museum said:

«"The revival of the museum in Simeiz should serve as a prerequisite for turning the village with its amazing monuments of history and nature into the village of Kotsyubinsky, like Voloshinsky Koktebel, where regular literary and historical readings and various conferences should be held"»

In 2015, an exhibition on the history of Semiez was held on the territory of the museum. [3]
