Biography
In 1951 he graduated from the Eastern Department of the Military Institute of Foreign Languages . In 1965-1966 Internship at Peking University .
In 1960-1992 employee of the Institute of Oriental Studies, USSR Academy of Sciences . Last position - head of sector.
In 1971 he defended his doctoral dissertation on new Chinese poetry. In 1960-1980 remained almost the only translator of contemporary poetry of the PRC .
In 1992 he moved to Israel . He worked at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem .
He was a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR , the Federation of Unions of Writers of Israel and the international Pen Club .
He is the author of seven books of literary and historical prose and many articles on the problems of history and theory of Chinese literature , the interconnections of national literatures, the theory and practice of literary translation . Compiled and edited a number of translated editions of poetry of the East. He published 15 collections of translations of Chinese classical and modern poetry and prose. In 2001, a book of memoirs was published in Jerusalem .
