Biography

Born January 31, 1955 in the city of Bayeux (Department of Calvados ). After graduating with a degree in economics and a diploma, the DEA also studied accounting. He worked as a teacher, accountant, agent of an insurance company, then in the apparatus of the Council of the Lower Normandy region . From 1988 to 1998 he was the director of the school of international trade.

Jean-Leons Dupont began his political activity in his youth, joining the Young Giscardists movement in Bayeux (named after French President Valerie Giscard d'Estaing ). He was elected to the Bayeux City Council, took the post of First Deputy Mayor, and in 1995 was elected Mayor of Bayeux. He held this post until 2001, when he resigned due to the impossibility of combining several mandates.

In 1998, Jean-Leons Dupont was first elected to the General Council of the Department of Calvados from the canton of Bayeux and subsequently re-elected twice to this body. From 2001 to 2011, he was First Vice President of the General Council, and in 2011 succeeded Ann d'Ornano as President of the Council. In 1998, he was also elected to the French Senate, where he would be vice president of the centrist parliamentary group. In 2008 and 2014, he was re-elected to the Senate.

He was a member of the Commission for Monitoring and Control of Publications intended for children and adolescents, a member of the Board of Directors of the National Center for University and School Education (CNOUS), and president of the Federation of Local Public Enterprises. He is a member of the National Council for the Assessment of the School System (CNESCO).

In March 2015, together with Melanie Lepultier, he was elected to the Council of the Department of Calvados from the canton of Bayeux , and on April 2 - President of the Council. In 2017, due to the requirements of the Law on the impossibility of combining mandates, he handed over the mandate of the senator.
