EQEmu (or EQEmulator ) - a free server emulator MMORPG EverQuest . Thanks to EQEmu, you can start your own server, which will work similarly to the official Sony Online Entertainment servers. Development began around 2001 or 2002. According to statistics from the EQEmu website, a huge number of players visited the servers using this emulator, only slightly less than the official servers.
Since at the moment EQEmu is not updated simultaneously with the release of new clients, some servers use their own patches that install a version of the client compatible with them.

The community of EQEmu has a sufficient number of amateur programmers and game enthusiasts, which allowed to release various programs that simplify the process of developing an emulator.
The EQEmu project has its own Wiki , containing various useful information for players and server administrators.
EQEmu Database
EQEmu provides only the functionality to run its own EverQuest server. Another necessary part is a good database with relevant and complete content. The creation of such a base, reflecting the original EverQuest universe, is engaged in Project EQ .
EthernalQuest
EthernalQuest is another EverQuest emulator that has also been hoped for. Its development began in 1999 or 2000. At the moment, the project is no longer supported, but is still available for download. Most of his community switched to EQEmulator.
