World Junior Curling Championships 1991

The World Junior Curling Championships 1991 ( Eng. 1991 World Junior Curling Championships ) was held from March 9 to March 17, 1991 in the city of Glasgow ( Scotland ) for both men's and women's teams.

10 men's and 10 women's teams took part in the championship.

In the men's tournament, the team of Scotland became the champions (the 5th time in its history), the Canadian team that won the final. Bronze medals were won in the semifinals of the national teams of Switzerland and the United States.

In the women's tournament, the champions (1st time in their history) were the Swedish team, the Swiss team that won the final. Bronze medals were won by the Canadian and Scotland teams in the semifinals.

Content

Event Format

At the first, group stage, 10 teams play one round in a circular system . The last-ranked team is sent to the next qualifying tournament next year. The four best teams in the group stage enter the second stage, the playoffs , where they play according to the Olympic system : the semi-finals and the final. The match for the 3rd place is not held; both losers in the semifinals of the team get bronze medals.
