Biography
Born into a peasant family. He graduated from agricultural college. He worked in gold mines in South Africa . In 1943-1944 he served in the British Army in the Middle East. In 1951-1962 he worked in the agricultural department. He has been a member of the progressive party of the Basutoland African Congress since its founding in 1952, but soon became a communist. In 1962 he participated in the preparation and work of the constituent congress of the CP Lesotho. From October 1962, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Lesotho, and in October 1964 - March 1967, a member of the Politburo and Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Lesotho, in March 1967, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Lesotho. After the ban of the Communist Party of Lesotho, in February 1970 he was arrested, having been imprisoned until 1972, and until 1974 - under the supervision of the police. He took an active part in the trade union movement.
