Tuva Writers

The first collectors of Tuvan folk art were Russian scholars: Academician V. V. Radlov, G. N. Potanin , N. F. Katanov, and others. In 1966 , V. V. Radlov's book “Folk Examples” was published in St. Petersburg literature of Turkic tribes ”, it contained Tuvan folk tales and songs. [one]

In 1929 the poem “March Eighth” by D. Barykaan (1898-1975), the first Tuvan poetess, was published on the pages of the Unen newspaper. In 1934, the first poems of S. Saryg-ool (1908-1983) were published: Erge-sholee (Freedom), Bister tiileer bis (We Will Win); B. Hovenmey (1915-1972) “October Tugu” (“Banner of the October”); S. Purbyu (1913-1975) “Ergim Ash Hererezhen” (“Dear Comrade Woman”). 1970 - the heyday of the Tuvan novel: “Dospester” (“The Expendables”, 1967), “Toreen kizhiler” (“Relatives”, 1970) O. Sagan-oola ; “Ulug-Khemnin Shapkiny” (“Stremnina of the Great River”, 1965), “Khereezhennin Chorgaaraly” (“Pride of a Woman”, 1970), “Tenin Sama” (“Capricorn's Dance”, 1976) M. Kenin-Lopsana; et al. The first literary publication for Tuvan children was the translation of A. Barto ’s poems “Halyshkylar” (The Brothers, M., 1934), by S. Tanchai and S. Tanov. May 8, 1940 in the newspaper Vperyod, translated by M. Verpukhovsky in Russian, a poem by S. Pürby “Mainyn Biri” (“The First of May”) was published. This is the first poem of Tuvan poetry translated into Russian. [2]

Organizational and creative work among Tuvan writers is conducted by the Union of Writers of the Republic of Tuva , created in November 1942, chaired by S. Pyurby, O. Sagan-ool, K. Kudazhy, O. Suvakpit, A. Darzhay, N. Kuular , M. Khovalyg, C. Ondar .

In 1946, the first literary, artistic and critical almanac began to be published, since 1992 it was transformed into the literary, artistic and socio-political journal of the Union of Writers of Tuva “Ulug-Khem”, with which writers, poets, cultural and art workers, translators, and literary scholars collaborate and critics.
