Gottfried Bammes ( German: Gottfried Bammes , (born April 26, 1920 , Pochappel - May 14, 2007 , Dresden is a German artist and anatomist. Since 1960 he has been a professor of plastic anatomy at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts (Graduate School of Fine Arts). He has written several books on Anatomy for artists who have become standard teaching aids in universities around the world.

Biography
Gottfried Bammes was born in 1920 in a family of a teacher in Potchappel (now Freital). During the Second World War he fell into Canadian captivity, from which he fled in 1945 . At the beginning of the war, Bammes studied painting and graphics with the sculptor Emil Paul Burner , then continued his education as a self-taught artist. From 1951 to 1953, Bammes studied painting and graphics at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts, where he began working as a teacher in 1953. In 1964 he gained worldwide fame with the publication of his own manual on plastic anatomy for artists "Die Gestalt des Menschen". By the completeness of the material contained in it, unsurpassed so far. This book has been reprinted several times in Germany under the titles "Die Gestalt des Menschen" and "Der nackte Mensch" and has been translated into Bulgarian (1997), Russian (2011) and English (2017). In addition to this work, Bammes wrote textbooks on human figures "Sehen und verstehen" (1985), "Wir zeichnen den Menschen" (1989), and animals "Die Gestalt des Tieres" (1975) and "Große Tieranatomie" (1991) .
