Short Biography

The son of Jewish immigrants from Russia , a cousin of conductor Emmanuel Krivin . [1] His brother - surgeon and publicist Jean-Michel Crivin - also a Trotskyist.

The political biography of Alain Krivin begins with the official French Communist Party . In 1956, Krivin joined the Communist Youth of the PCF . From 1958 to 1965 he was a member of the National Committee of the Union of Communist Students of France. Under his leadership, the University Front Anti-Fascist Front ( Front Universitaire Antifasciste ) was created, whose task is to fight supporters of SLA in the Latin Quarter of Paris and elsewhere. In 1965, at the SCS Congress, supporters of Alain Krivin, who were the left wing of the SCS, began the struggle for “the right to form trends” and “the consistent de-Stalinization of the PCF” [2] .

However, in January 1966 he was expelled from the PCF for disagreeing with the party’s official line in support of Francois Mitterrand in the presidential election, as well as for his Trotskyist views. In the same year, 1966, Krivin with his supporters formed the organization “ Revolutionary Communist Youth ” (RCM) [2] .

Alain Crivin and the RCM took an active part in the May events of 1968 in France , becoming a center of attraction for a significant number of “ new left ”. The Paris newspaper Le Monde wrote about the organization’s role in these events, in particular: “... RCM, which had the largest number of activists, played a role in the mobilization and inspiration that experts consider decisive. This was, first of all, demonstrated at the marches of the NSSF during the main demonstrations ” [2] . In 1969, Krivin, who was doing military service at the same time, first represented the Communist League (KL), the RCM was called after the unification with the International Communist Party of Pierre Franco , in the French presidential election , which won 1.05% of the vote ( 239 106 people).

In 1973, CL was banned by the French government. The reason for this was the demonstration organized by the League on June 21 in Paris, against the meeting in the Mutualité building of the ultra-right organization New Order . During the demonstration, clashes between the left and the police occurred. Alain Krivin and other KL leader Pierre Rousse were arrested. The organization for a while had to go underground [3] .

In 1974, activists of the banned KL established the Revolutionary Communist Front (RKF), then transformed into the Revolutionary Communist League (RKL). Alain Krivin was nominated by the RKF as a candidate for the 1974 presidential election . However, these elections were not very successful - Krivin got only 0.39% or 93 990 votes. I did not participate in the next presidential election: in 1981, it was not possible to collect a sufficient number of signatures, in 1988 the RKL supported the independent candidate-communist Pierre Jouquin, and in 1995 invited its supporters to vote for candidates from the PCF, Workers' Party or the Green Party .

Since 1974, he is a member of the Political Bureau of the RKL and a member of the Executive Committee of the Fourth International. In March 2006, Krivin resigned as a member of the RKL Politburo, while remaining a member of the international leadership [4] . From 1999 to 2004, he was a member of the European Parliament from a single list of the Revolutionary Communist League and Workers' Struggle , another Trotskyist organization. He writes for the RKL newspaper Rouge and the magazines of the Fourth International Inprecor and International Viewpoint .

In 2008-2009, Alain Crivine, along with Olivier Besansno , took an active part in the formation of the New Anti-Capitalist Party (NPA) in France.

In 2006, Alain Krivin came to Moscow, where he participated in several meetings with the left public at Moscow State University , the University of RAO and in the Falanster bookstore, widely known in the left circles [5] . Krivin also spoke at the Second Congress of the Forward Socialist Movement , where he made a report on the international situation, spoke about the activities of the Fourth International, and the situation in Brazil and Italy [6] . In 2015, Krivin, at the invitation of the Ukrainian left-wing organization "Social Movement", participated in the May Day conference in Kiev [7] .
