Biography
Born in the family of the composer Louis Emmanuel Jaden .
He studied painting and engraving at the Paris School of Fine Arts under the guidance of Louis Ercans , Abel de Pujol , Alexander-Gabriel Dean , and later Richard Parks Bonington .
Since 1831, exhibited in the Salon .
He was a close friend of Alexander Dumas (father) , whom he accompanied on several trips, in particular, to Naples in 1835 and to Florence in 1840. Dumas introduced the artist Ferdinand Philippe, Duke of Orleans , at whose request L. Jaden decorated the dining room of the Tuileries Palace with paintings with hunting scenes.
L. Jaden was awarded two medals of the 3rd class (1834 and 1855), a medal of the 2nd class (1840) and a medal of the 1st class (1848).
In 1854 he became a knight of the Legion of Honor.
