Belovodye is the legendary land of freedom [1] in Russian folk traditions . Often associated with irium - the ancient Slavic paradise . It is to him that the image of the Milky (Milky) River flowing from the sky in Russian tales and legends dates back. (The Greek Eridanus is considered by many to be the Greek Greek analogue of the Milky River) The image of Belovodye is also partially intertwined with the image of the invisible city of Kitezh .
The Origin of a Legend
Official historiography relates the emergence of a legend to the end of the 18th century , and associates its distribution with the activities of runners - one of the Old Believer communities [2] . At that time, there were numerous "guides", in encrypted allegorical form, describing the path to Belovodye.
In the XVIII — XIX centuries. Belovodye found a real image among the Old Believers - the valleys of the Bukhtarma and Katun rivers in Altai , where various fugitives from government duties voluntarily settled, forming an ethnographic group of Bukhtarma masons [3] . Some groups of Old Believers in search of Belovodye went much deeper into Chinese territory, and even crossed to North and South America [4] [5] .
