Don Rescue Circle

In April 1918, the Don Soviet Republic was abolished. The administrative power passed to the Provisional Don Government , the military - to the marching chieftain, Major General P. Kh. Popov .

From April 28 ( May 11 ), 1918 to May 5 ( 18 ), 1918 , the General Meeting of the Presidium of the Provisional Don Government and delegates from the villages and military units was held in Novocherkassk , which organized the Don Rescue Circle ^[1] .

• April 28 - the presidium of the Don’s Rescue Circle was elected: the chairman was Colonel G.P. Yanov , the comrades of the chairman were V.N. Svetozarov (future head of public education) and Yesaul F.I. Babkin .
• April 29 - the organization of a permanent Cossack army on the Don to fight the Bolsheviks and the establishment of new laws were discussed.
• April 30 - resolutions were passed on the formation of three commissions for the examination of villages and bank branches devastated by the Red Guards.
• May 1 - a resolution was passed on the convocation of the Great Army Circle. They decided on the establishment of military awards and on the uniform of military officials and officials. The badge of the military order (St. George’s Cross with the coat of arms of the Don army) and the commemorative badge-badge of the Don Rescue Circle were established. A report “On the situation in the Don and prospects for the future construction of the region” was made by P. N. Krasnov , who called for the creation of an independent state republic, the “ Great Don Army ”.
• May 2 - the problems of local government organization were considered (the power of the district, village and farm chieftains, police and courts was restored). Decisions were issued to return to the " old " chronology and to maintain the "singing and music choirs" in the service.
• May 3 - Regional power was organized for the time until the convocation of the Great Army Circle. Major General P.N. Krasnov (“107 votes against 13 with 10 abstentions”) was elected a military ataman, who was handed over the entire power until the Great Army Circle was convened, and Major General P. Kh. Popov was promoted to rank general Lieutenant. They adopted a resolution on the mobilization of Cossacks in all districts (censuses from 1916 to 1912).
• May 4 - The Basic laws of the Donskoy Great Army were adopted (the Don flag , coat of arms and anthem were approved), a government was created ("Council of Department Departments", chairman - Lieutenant General A. P. Bogaevsky, later - Lieutenant General P. Kh. Popov) .
• May 5 - the military chieftain P.N. Krasnov spoke ^[2] .

Resolutions of the Don Rescue Circle were approved by the Great Don Army Circle (together with the creation of the Great Don Army ) in September 1918 ^[3] .
