Biography
Ronen Manelis was born in Jerusalem in January 1979 and raised in Beit Shemesh . He received a bachelor's degree in history from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem , and also earned a master's degree in political science from Tel Aviv University . He is married and has two children. He currently lives in the village of Mazkeret Batya .
Military Service
He joined the Israel Defense Forces in 1997 and served in various positions in the Israel Military Intelligence Directorate and in the General Staff of the Israel Defense Forces .
In 1999-2000, during the fighting in southern Lebanon, he was an intelligence officer in the reconnaissance of paratroopers [1] .
In 2003-2005, he worked as a scout in the Shomron brigade.
In 2009-2010, Manelis was the head of the research department at the Israel Military Intelligence Agency .
In 2010-2012, he was the head of the Lebanese department in the Northern Military District .
In 2012-2014, Manelis became the chief intelligence officer in the Gaza division .
In 2014-2015, he headed the Remote Control Headquarters .
In 2015-2017 - Assistant Chief of the General Staff of the Israel Defense Forces [2] .
In February 2017, Chief of the General Staff Gabi Aizenkot appointed Manelis to the post of Head of the Press Service of the Israel Defense Forces. On May 18, 2017, Manelis assumed his duties at the AOI press service and was awarded the rank of brigadier general.
