The entrances to both caves are very close to each other, about 9 m. Previously, they were at sea level, but nowadays they are 25 m higher, protrude into the rocky wall and therefore are inaccessible. The sizes of the entrances are different, at Gruttuni it is wide, at Grotta do Skuru it is narrower, as a result of which it is relatively light in the first cave and very dark inside the second.
Two adjacent caves are of interest from an archaeological point of view. In 2012, the assumptions of scientists from Piedmont were confirmed, according to which the caves were used during the late Bronze Age, as well as in later historical periods. The artifacts found in the caves (terracotta, stone mills, polished pebbles, etc.) are quite well preserved due to the difficulty of access inside. Obviously, Korean caves were used for housing purposes: people could spend their daily lives in Gruttuni, while Grotta do Skuru was used for funeral ceremonies.
