Jose Carlos Ramirez ( born August 12, 1992 , Hanford , USA ) is an American professional boxer who performs in the light and first welterweight categories . He played for the US boxing team in the early 2010s, a participant in the Olympic Games (2012) , a three-time champion of the national amateur championship. Among the professionals, the combined world champion in the versions of WBC (2018 -present ) and WBO (2019 -present ) in the 1st welterweight.

Biography
Jose Ramirez was born on August 12, 1992 in Hanford , California . He was engaged in boxing in one of the Fresno halls in the Fresno State Bulldogs team.
Amateur career
First announced itself in 2009, becoming the US champion among juniors. A year later, in the lightweight category, he won the standings of the adult American championship, then in 2010 and 2012 he repeated this success.
Once in the main squad of the American national team, he took part in the World Cup in Baku , but could not get into the number of winners here - at the preliminary stage he won the representative of Armenia Vladimir Sarukhanyan , but then with a score of 9:16 he was defeated by the Ukrainian Olympic champion Vasily Lomachenko .
In the competition for leadership in the national team, Ramirez defeated Raynell Williams , a participant in the previous Olympics, after which he successfully performed at the American Olympic qualification tournament in Rio de Janeiro and thanks to this he was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the Summer Olympic Games in London . In the opening match of the Games, the representative of France Rashid Azzedin passed in a rather intense fight, however, in the second match with a score of 11:15, he lost to the Uzbek Fazliddin Gaibnazarov and dropped out of the fight for medals [1] .
Professional career
Soon after the London Olympics in 2012, Ramirez successfully debuted on a professional level. Over the next three years, he won fifteen victories among professionals, including winning the vacant North American Boxing Federation (NABF) champion title in the welterweight division.
In the future, he continued to actively enter the ring, in particular in 2015 he won the vacant title of champion of Continental America according to the World Boxing Council (WBC). Subsequently, he defended this championship belt four times.
Championship fight with Amir Imam
After the absolute world champion Terence Crawford announced the transfer to the welterweight at the end of 2017, his WBC title was vacant, and Jose Ramirez became the official contender for it. Another candidate was named Amir Imam , the champion battle between them should be held in March 2018 [2] .
On March 17, 2018, he met with compatriot Amir Imam in the battle for the vacant WBC Welterweight World Championship title . The fight lasted all 12 rounds. Ramirez won on points [3] .
