Stetinn is the highest mountain of the Norwegian commune Tusfjord (according to other sources, there are a number of higher mountains near the border with Sweden). Located 15 km northeast of the village of Hyöpsvik .
Mountain and Man
The peak is known in Norway, it is a high natural granite obelisk with a height of 1392 m, rising directly from the fjord . In Norway it is called gudenes ambolt , which means “anvil of the gods”, partly because the shape of the peak is a plateau. It was chosen by the national mountain of Norway in the fall of 2002.
Climbing
After many years of unsuccessful attempts, she was conquered in the summer of 1910. In 1963, they first climbed Steninn in winter, and in 1966, using the more difficult route through the western wall.
The famous British climber William C. Slingsby described it as the ugliest mountain that he had ever seen (he did not reach the top of the mountain).
