Biography

Born in Spreziano on May 17, 1934. He was the second child of seven children in a family where his father and paternal grandfather were musicians. With the outbreak of World War I, the Pasut family moved to Rome. Here, the future composer learned to play the piano and continued his musical education in Treviso with teachers from Cornelia Bindoni, Giulio Tirindelli and Luigi Pavan. In 1934 he graduated from the Conservatory of St. Cecilia in Rome in the classes of choral music and choral conducting, orchestral conducting and polyphonic vocal composition.

I studied organ playing with Irineo Fuser. During his studies, he served as an organist in a church in the village of , near Spreziano. In 1928, Pasut was taken to the place of organist in the Cathedral of Treviso, and held this place until 1946.

In the 1930s and 1940s, he taught at the diocesan school of St. Cecilia. From 1945 to 1953 he was the director of the Francesco Manzato School of Music in Treviso, where he later served as an art consultant until 1973. Since the second half of the 1950s, Pasut has been actively engaged in teaching activities. He taught at the conservatories of Bologna, Turin, Pesaro, Vicenza and Venice. From 1974 to 1980 he was director of the Conservatory in Adria. From 1980 to 1981 - the Conservatory in Castelfranco Veneto.

In 1997, he was appointed president of the Venetian Association for the Development of Choral Activities (ASAC) - a member of the Italian National Federation of Regional Choral Associations ( ). In 1998, the president of the composer was replaced by a friend - Gastone Zotto. Pasut was a member of the jury at numerous national and international choral and composing contests. He was a member of the Trevisan Athenaeum, where, with his participation, numerous biographies of composers and musicians from different times were written and published.

In 1942, Pasout became the conductor of the Trevisan Arches orchestra. He also served as choirmaster and organist at the La Fenice Theater in Venice, the Rovigo Public Theater and the Reggio Theater in Turin. For many years he led the Pontifical Anthonyan Music Chapel in Padua and directed the choirs of the Turin Polyphonists, Padua Polyphonic Skete and Padua Polyphonic Octet. The latter was founded by him in 1962. Pasut conducted this choir until 1997. Under his leadership, these groups have gained fame throughout Europe.

Pasut was married to Vittoria, nee Salmazi, from whom he had five daughters. In 1995, the composer was widowed. Two years before his death, he survived a stroke. He died in Treviso on May 25, 2006.

Pasut is the author of more than 360 works for choir, orchestra, piano and organ. He wrote mainly chamber music. Composer's works during his lifetime were published by several Italian music publications.
