Story

The three brothers - Kunz, Franz the loser and Klaus - live in a small shoe shop, inherited from their father by inheritance. The older brothers, Kuntz and Franz, dream of lounging , while the younger Klaus is repairing boots for the poor inhabitants of the kingdom. For this, the older brothers nicknamed Klaus "Fool".

Once Kunts goes to the woods to chop wood and takes a pie and wine with him. There he meets an old woman collecting firewood , who asks to share with her a sip of wine and a piece of cake, because she has been tormented by hunger and thirst for a long time. But the older brother only drives her away. For this, he gets an ax with his hand. Soon the middle brother goes into the forest. He also takes wine and scrambled eggs with him. He also meets an old woman, but he refuses her and receives a punishment in the leg with an ax. As a result, they send “Fool” to chop wood and give him bread and water with them. Klaus also meets an old woman, and the guy willingly shares food with her. But instead of water, he finds wine in a bottle, and instead of bread, an omelet. After a snack, Klaus repairs her basket. In gratitude, his grandmother advises him to cut down the centuries-old oak tree, under whose roots he will find what he needs. After that, she disappears.

Klaus cuts down the oak, and in its roots he discovers a golden goose . The guy takes it under his arm, and suddenly he meets two sisters - Liz and Gret. Wanting to take the golden feather for himself and his sister, Liz touches the goose, but then sticks to it. The same thing happens with Gret. Klaus decides to go to the inn, which is owned by the father of the sisters. But the brutal Prince Sturfried had already stopped there, preparing at night an attack on the palace and the abduction of the princess. “Fool”, due to his cunning, lures the prince and all his warriors-subordinates into the basement, solders them and orders the owner to lock them, and he goes to bed. At night, the innkeeper wants to take a feather from the goose, but also sticks to it.

Awakened Klaus recalls a royal decree that a man who makes a sad princess laugh will receive her as a wife, as well as half a kingdom in addition. It’s not out of a sense of self-interest that a guy is going to make her laugh. On the way to the goose, wandering musicians , a groom, a bride, some man and a peasant with a donkey , as well as a royal captain, stick to it. Arriving at the palace, Klaus makes the princess laugh, and she reminds the king of the promise, but the ruler does not want to give his daughter to marry a commoner. However, the palace is captured by Prince Sturfried. "Fool" saves the royal treasury and protects the princess from the conqueror, for which she receives her hand and heart.
