Most of the former Misso municipality belonged to the Haanja Karula Recreation Area. Here are the Hino and Kiseyärve landscape reserve, Puliyyarve reserve, Parmu nature reserve and partially Kirikumäe landscape reserve.

One of the most picturesque lakes in the area is Lake Hino , surrounded by forests, with its seven islands, which is also a convenient place for fishing. Near Lake Hino there are burials dating from the 14th century.
