The single was released on April 28, 2017 . The name of the song, “1-800-273-8255,” is the telephone number of the American National Suicide Prevention Telephone Line [2] . The co-authors of the song were the performers themselves, as well as Andrew Taggart [3] [4] , a member of The Chainsmokers . The song was nominated for a Grammy-2018 award in the Best Song category [5] .

Song Information
In an interview for the Genius Logic website, he said that the lyrics were written on behalf of a person who wants to commit suicide and calls the suicide prevention hotline; the idea of the song came to him during one of the concert tours and conversations with fans who claimed that his music literally saved their life, although he “didn’t try to save someone’s life at all,” but then the awareness “... strength, which I possess as a performer with my voice. I have not even tried to save your life. And what happens if I actually try to save her? ” [6]
A video clip for the song appeared on August 17, 2017 [7] . The director of the video was Andy Hines, in the center of the plot of the video is a young man who is ready to commit suicide due to rejection by his family and those around him of sexual orientation [8] . Actors Coy Stuart, Nolan Gould , Don Cheadle , Louis Guzman and Matthew Modine appeared in the video as a cameo [9] .
According to information from the US National Suicide Prevention Telephone Line three weeks after the release of the single, the number of calls to the hotline increased by 27%, the number of visitors to the line’s site increased from 300 to 400 thousand [10] . On the night after the end of the MTV Video Music Awards 2017 , during which Logic, Alessia Kara and Khalid performed, as well as the speech of singer Kesha , who introduced the song and artists, the number of calls to the hotline increased by 50% [11] .
On October 13, a Spanish remix of the song, created with the participation of Colombian singer Juanes, was released [12] .
