Boris Yakovlevich Zonis ( 1950 , Bender , Moldavian SSR - 2001 , Rostov-on-Don ) - Soviet and Russian medical scientist, cardiologist and pathophysiologist. Doctor of Medicine (1986), Professor (1989), Head of the Department of Internal Diseases of Rostov State Medical University [1] [2] .

Biography
Born in a family of doctors [3] . His father, Yakov Mikhailovich Zonis (? —2008) - pulmonologist and allergist, doctor of medical sciences (1973), professor, head of the first allergy research laboratory in Kislovodsk , founder of the resort allergology in the USSR, organizer of the allergy service in the resort areas of the country [4 ] .
In 1973 he graduated from the Rostov Medical Institute. The thesis of the candidate of medical sciences was defended in 1975 on the topic “Electromechanical activity of the heart in dogs of various ages in normal conditions and in the development of renovascular hypertension”. He headed the department of arterial hypertension of the Rostov Regional Cardiology Clinic. In 1986 he defended his thesis of Doctor of Medical Sciences on the topic “The role of the functional state of the adrenoreceptor apparatus in the mechanisms of bronchospasm and arterial hypertension. Methods of diagnosis and pathogenetic therapy ".
Since 1989 - Professor of the Department of Internal Diseases No. 3, then the Department of Internal Diseases No. 1 of the Rostov Medical Institute [5] [6] . Since 1998, he worked as head of the department of arterial hypertension at the Regional Cardiology Clinic.
The main scientific works are devoted to the pathological physiology of arterial hypertension and vascular tone regulation, differential diagnosis and treatment of arterial hypertension, metabolic syndrome, pharmacology of heart and vascular diseases.
