Biography

Flaminio Sosa began his career as a football player on the same team as his older brother Alcides Sosa (born March 24, 1944 in Karaguatay ) - in the capital 's Guarani . Together with his brother in 1969, Flaminio became the champion of Paraguay [2] .

In 1974 he moved to Olimpia; Alcides, who managed to become the team captain, has already played for her since 1971. Alcides left Olimpia in 1977 and Flaminio remained the only representative of his family who managed to achieve great success in 1979 , winning all the club tournaments in which Olimpia took part [2] . Flaminio Sosa won the Libertadores Cup with Olimpia, and then, having defeated the Malmö European Cup finalist in the sum of two matches (the winner, Nottingham Forest , refused to play), he won the Intercontinental Cup. Subsequently, Olimpia won the much less prestigious Inter-American Cup. In addition to victories in the international arena, with Olimpia, Sosa won four Paraguayan championships. Flaminio was notable for his low growth, but his competent position choice and tenacity in the game [3] .

As part of the national team of Paraguay, Flaminio Sosa took part in two draws of the America's Cup - in 1975 and 1979. In 1979, the America’s Cup was played without a single organizing country, all stages of the tournament took place according to the Olympic system for relegation, at home and away, and lasted from July to December. Therefore, a fairly large number of players participated in the national teams. So, the winners of the tournament immediately became 32 players. During the winning campaign, Flaminio began playing for the “albirroha” from the semifinal stage, and as a result played five matches in the draw without substitutions, including an additional final on the neutral field in Buenos Aires [4] . Thus, Sosa became one of the eight Olimpia players who won absolutely all world football tournaments in 1979 in which they participated [3] .

Flaminio Sosa played for Olimpia until the end of 1981, after which he ended his career as a football player.
